Consistency is underrated – It’s never a star personality trait. Do you ever hear someone say – you should marry him – he’s so consistent. Or what a great worker – she’s so consistent. Or this year I resolve to be more consistent.
No. But there’s big payoffs to consistency in everything we do from sports, health, finances, learning new skills, education. They all benefit from consistency and “practice makes perfect” is a saying for a reason. Same with Consistency is Key, a popular Instagram tag.
So maybe we should take consistency more seriously. When you set your mind to something you want to accomplish, you need to consistently work on it to become reality. That’s the #1 way to improve your health. It doesn’t mean you can’t ever have a donut. It just means work on healthy habits consistently. Each day – try to drink more water, eat more veggies, eat less processed foods walk more and perhaps try cooking/preparing a new, healthy snack or meal.
Let’s consistently “do the right thing,” not leave things to the last minute, be kind and work on skills we want to improve on.
At Bravo, we’d have offsites (or more like onsites when budget was tight) and take a personality test called D I S C to learn how best to work with different personality types. In a nutshell, it stands for:
Dominant
Influential
Compliant
Steady
I was steady – not the most glamorous – but you could ALWAYS rely on me. Never missed a deadline, went over buget or messed something up because I consistenly did a good job (or hired someone to). I love consistency. But I ALSO love hills and valley. Like working really hard, then having a break or eating really healthy, then having some treats. Let’s remember that consistency can still include having a little breather, as long as you come back to baseline – consistently.
