Color Therapy

I love the Fourth of July, but the color red, not so much. It even bothers me having red in my Instagram feed, but there’s so much watermelon in the spotlight – it’s unavoidable. This year, I tried to outsmart they holiday by mostly dressing in blue and white for our annual 4th photo.

In addition to analyzing colors, I love analyzing people and their personality traits. I’m a big fan of The Enneagram (a personality classification system) and am quite taken with this chakra test by Eclectic Energies, it’s so enlightening. Their quick and fun test reveals which of your chakras are overflowing OR lacking. I do it a few times a year to see where I check out and I’m always deficient in the root chakra, symbolized by none other than the color red. If you’re new to chakras – each of 7 points along your spine correlate to a different area of your body and translates to how aligned or blocked your emotional and physical wellbeing is in each of the 7 “centers”. I’m always overabundant in the throat chakra b/c I have no problem voicing my opinions and emotions (usually guilty of oversharing) but am deficient in feeling at home, characterized by the root chakra. Probably because I spend so much time always trying to make others comfortable that I lose my own sense of security. I’ve looked up how to work on this and the “antidote” is bringing more red into my life. Can you imagine if life was that easy – to cure a deficiency by looking at a color? That’s what “they” say – add more red to my life. So bring on the berries – I need you.
